To add DuckDuckGo to your Firefox address bar:
  1. Type "about:config" into the address bar.
  2. Search for "keyword.url".
  3. Change it to "https://duckduckgo.com/?q=".
  4. If you want instant-style search, change it instead to "https://duckduckgo.com/?q=!+".

To set DuckDuckGo as your homepage, drag this link to the home icon in your Firefox toolbar.

To make DuckDuckGo the search engine used when you select text and right click:

  1. Type "about:config" into the address bar.
  2. Search for "browser.search.defaultenginename".
  3. Change it to the name of the DuckDuckGo plugin you use, e.g. "DuckDuckGo (SSL)"

To replace Google with DuckDuckGo in Firefox's default homepage (about:home):
  1. Download and install the extension SQLite Manager.
  2. Go to Firefox > Web Developer > SQLite Manager.
  3. Click "(Select Profile Database)", choose "chromeappsstore.sqlite", and press "Go".
  4. Click "Tables" from the left pane and choose "webappsstore2".
  5. Open the "Browse & Search" tab, and change the value for the key "search-engine" to "{"name":"DuckDuckGo (SSL)","searchUrl":"https://duckduckgo.com/?q=_searchTerms_"}".
