- Install DuckDuckGoBar by Victor Quinn (open source), which adds a small toolbar. It is also available in the Safari extensions gallery.
- Install Glims, which can add search engines directly to the search box. The config looks like this and then this.
- Install GlimmerBlocker and then use the DuckDuckGo filter, which can also add search engines directly to the search box.
- Install OpenSearch for Safari, visit the DuckDuckGo homepage, and follow the prompts.
- If you really know what you're doing, you can hack the binary or change your hosts file!
In iOS, the above solutions do not work. We don't know of any way to use DuckDuckGo in the default Safari browser without jailbreaking the device. However, there are other iOS browsers that include DuckDuckGo:
- Our app
- Inception (DDG is default)
- Cyberspace (DDG is default)
- Ghostery (DDG is default)
- iCab Mobile (DDG in default list)
